How to Build a Simple WordPress Website in a Weekend (No Coding Needed!)
Hey girl hey! 🙌
So you’ve got a business idea (or five), you're juggling mom life like a queen, and now you’re ready to get official with your own website… but the tech stuff has you side-eyeing your laptop like it’s about to bite you.
I got you, sis. 💕
Today, I’m walking you through how to build your first WordPress website in a single weekend—no coding, no complicated tech, and absolutely no perfection needed. This is the same beginner-friendly, mom-approved method I used myself.
Let’s get your digital home set up, shall we?

🛍 Step 1: Snag Your Domain Name + Hosting
First things first—you need your domain (that’s your web address like www.Raquelgw.com
) and hosting (the service that makes your site live on the internet).
✨ I personally use Namecheap to grab my domain—it’s affordable, user-friendly, and great for beginners.
💻 Then I connect it to Bluehost for hosting. They’re mom budget-friendly and often run deals for under $3/month when you’re starting out. Namecheap also has hosting for inexpensive. (Yup, that’s a whole lotta boss-mom magic for a few bucks!)
⚙️ Step 2: Install WordPress in One Click
Once you’re set up with Bluehost, installing WordPress is literally a one-click process. No tech skills needed, pinky promise.
You’ll receive a welcome email, click a button that says “Install WordPress,” and BOOM—you’re halfway there, boo!
🎨 Step 3: Choose a Theme That Doesn’t Stress You Out
Can we talk themes real quick?
When you first log into WordPress, the theme options can feel overwhelming. But don’t panic—you don’t need anything fancy. I use free themes and always check to make sure they’re mobile-friendly (since 80% of your visitors are probably scrolling between Target aisles or during nap time).
💡 Look for themes that are:
Lightweight
Easy to customize
Mobile responsive
Compatible with basic plugins
Bonus: You can always change your theme later. Perfection not required!
🧱 Step 4: Add Your Core Pages
Now that you’re lookin’ cute, it’s time to build out your must-have pages.
Here’s what I use on my own site (feel free to copy this list):
Home – Warm welcome, value-packed.
About – Your story, your vibe, your mission.
Courses (Services) – Share how people can work with you.
Freebies – Totally optional, but a great way to collect emails.
Contact – Keep it simple: a form, your email, or a booking link.
Blog – Share your wisdom, mama! It helps with Google and builds trust.
👩🏽💻 Pro tip: Don’t overthink the copy. Talk like you’re texting your best friend.
🔌 Step 5: Install These Basic Plugins
Plugins are like little tools that give your website extra powers. Here are a few I install on every new WordPress site:
Yoast SEO (free version) – Helps your site show up on Google.
WP Forms – Easy contact forms.
Jetpack – Basic security and backups.
Elementor or Kadence Blocks – Drag-and-drop page builders.
UpdraftPlus – Backup your site in case anything goes sideways.
🛍 Optional: Yoast also offers a Premium version, but you don’t need that right away. Start simple and grow as you go.
🎯 Real Talk, Sis—Hit Publish Already
Listen, I know how tempting it is to tweak every little color and word… but done is better than perfect.
You can always come back to:
Update your brand colors
Add new offers
Clean up your homepage
The goal is to GET VISIBLE. Let people know who you are and how you help.
You’re building something beautiful, even if it’s a little messy. Don’t let perfection stop you from progress.

✨ Final Pep Talk
Sis, you don’t need to be a web designer or tech wizard to have a beautiful, functional website. You just need the confidence to take the first step—and maybe a little caffeine. ☕️
You got this.
See you on the internet, boss mama! 💻👑
